Demand is driven by international trade and global supply chains, with rates and volumes highly cyclical (the 2021–22 ocean/air-freight boom dramatically inflated forwarder revenue, since normalized). It is consolidating around scaled global forwarders, with digital freight forwarding (Flexport and incumbents' digital efforts) an ongoing disruption; it overlaps the broad freight-arrangement category and is the international dimension of the business.
